Splash deck
Definition
The flat play surface itself — distinct from the surrounding plaza or sidewalks — engineered with the slope, drainage and finish required to keep water moving and footing safe.
The splash deck is the heart of the installation. Slope is typically 1.5–2% toward drainage trenches; surface finish is rubberized PIP or broom-finished concrete with sealant; sub-base is reinforced concrete tied to the building plumbing.
Splash decks are the most heavily regulated part of the build — slip resistance, slope, drain spacing and ADA path-of-travel are all spec'd in state pool codes. The plaza around the deck is comparatively unregulated.
