Splash pad activation sensor
Definition
A motion or proximity sensor that automatically starts a splash pad's water cycle when kids enter the area, an alternative to push-button activation.
Activation sensors are common at modern paid splash pads and some newer municipal builds. They eliminate the awkward 'is the pad broken?' moment and start the cycle the instant a kid steps onto the pad.
Downsides: sensors can false-trigger on wind, leaves or birds, wasting water. Most installations pair sensors with timers to limit waste.
