Splash suit
Definition
A neoprene or wetsuit-style one-piece worn over a swim diaper to extend warm play in cool air or unheated water, popular with infants and toddlers in shoulder-season splash pad visits.
Splash suits sit between a swim diaper and a full wetsuit. They are typically 1–2mm neoprene, sleeveless or short-sleeved, and zip up the back. They keep core body temperature higher when air or water is below 75°F, which is common in May and September.
For splash pads specifically, a splash suit lets a young toddler stay in the spray for 30+ minutes instead of shivering out at 10. They do not replace a swim diaper — most pads still require a swim diaper underneath the suit. Brands like Splash About and Cheekaaboo dominate this category.
